Rachel's Lovely Locks!!

Rachel and Mommy have found a fun new hobby together!! We LOVE finding fun hairstyles and trying them out. I've decided that I should take pictures of them so we can reference them better!!
Love you, Punky!!
We've been playing with some fun new hair-do's for school this year!! I'm positive she has the best styles in her first grade class!! ;)

For Memorial Day, we wanted to do something fun...and what cooler new hair-do than this french braid, with "hair" bows looped through! Way easier to do than I thought! Pretty cool, huh?

I can't believe I didn't put in our Valentine's hair-do!! Our first attempt at heart-hair...not too shabby!

I loved this one for church a few weeks ago. Just a lot of twists into a messy bun!

Rachel wanted fun hair for her 1st grade program. So we braided tons of strands with her wet hair and let it sit over night! The result was very retro!!! Brought back thoughts of the 80's!!! (Is it just me, or does she look a little too "big-girl" in this picture)?

For church, we wanted to do something fun and different! So, we did a bow on the top of her head...made out of her hair!! How fantastic!

This one was a simple side ponytail with three little top side ponies!

Then below is a fat, fun side German braid!! It was beautiful all swept to one side and then curved over her shoulder...
I LOVE this one on Rachel. There is only so much more time in her life that pig-tails will still be acceptable. We did a zig-zag part on the top and then pulled them into high piggies! Super easy, fast and cute!
Punky asked for two braids this morning...so two braids it is. We did the German braid down each side...can you see that her hair is getting thicker! So beautiful!!
Double Rosettes (with some bling, of course)!
Star Braid for Fourth of July
 Triple Braid
(I forgot to take this picture in the morning and this was after a long day of playing and swimming)!!
Twist, wrapped around a bun!
Perfect for dance class tonight!
First it's three braids in one...
then two more braids added in!!
So five total braids, braided together!!
Day two hairstyle from the Five Braids!!
Beautiful wavey hair...she feels VERY
princess like with this do!
Or, another day-two is to pull up the side and do
a combo pull-out/push-up side braid!!
Double reverse twist! Two twists to the right,
combo twist to the left!
Of course, when you are this beautiful...
any hairstyle will do!!
For church this morning we tried out the waterfall french-braid (see how the strands fall out of the braid)!
We did one on each side and joined it together. Then we curled just the top layer of hair!!
Oh for fun, let's throw in a mommy-do!!
It's over 100 degrees here and I need my hair off my neck! So, for church this morning I did this wrap around, french-braid into a low side messy bun. After I did the loose braid, I gently pulled on it to make it extra soft...then just bobby-pinned the heck out of tiny pieces of hair until it made this fun messy-bun!
I practiced the waterfall braid again this morning and was pleased with how this one turned out. I did just one and made it thicker and then did some barrel roll curls. Despite burning her ear once with the curling iron, it turned out very pretty!! Curling this much hair takes a while...so we have started using that time to practice our star words and short sentences...
Hard to see here, but this is a Looney braid...it's unbalanced with the thickness of hair and can be pulled to make a funkier affect. Rachel called this her "Thumbalina" hairdo!!
Six twists into messy rosettes! This was more ambitious than I thought it would be. Next time I'll do just four twists...I want to practice this one again, soon!
No real reason to post this, other than the fact that it cracks me up!! Eric took this picture for me while Rachel was talking to me...it's her tiara and it looks like I'm wearing it!!! Makes me laugh!! This is a single pull French braid (top strand does NOT pick up hair) pulled into a side knot wrapped with a twist!! Super easy...
Rachel LOVES ribbons!! So, we went nuts with the ribbon braided into the hair, and then took ribbons and tied them into bobby-pins and stuck those into a messy bun. Super cute church up-do for these hot summer days!!!
