Thanks to my aunt Gloria for coming down and watching the kids yesterday so Brooks and I could go to the first baby appointment sans children - well, save for the one inside anyway!! :)
The appointment went really well. I've already gained 5 pounds - which is MUCH better than the 10 I feared (I've only been able to keep high-starch carbs down lately - so, it's five pounds of blah and not baby)!! We went through the standard urine test, blood pressure reading, medical history, nutrition and exercise discussion, and the great Q&A time. Unfortunately, they do not have any thing to help control my out-of-whack hormones...I was hoping for something to make me stop crying at every commercial with music!!! Nonetheless, my first real order of business was to get some medicine for the nausea - successful and it's working wonders! Second order was to get permission to attend a yoga class for expectant moms - signed and sealed (I figure if I plan to teach yoga t/o this pregnancy, some good modifications and tips wouldn't be a bad idea)!
But, the best part of the appointment was that we got to hear the heartbeat! I'm so glad Brooks was there to hear it for the first time. There is just something magical about the first time you hear your new child. The heart was beating at 166 beats per minute. S/he sounded really strong! We, of course, are already so proud of this little one! And, it does make all the nausea worth it!!!

I thought of you yesterday and wondered how it all went. Too bad they don't make something for out of whack hormones. Russ would make me take it.

Sorry I didn't make it this morning. My back is acting up to the point I thought it was going to go out on me yesterday. Anyway, see you next week!!
Congratulations on your new baby. Baby number 3s are sweet and such a gift. My baby number 3 is now 9 years old. I am really happy for you guys. fun fun enjoy it.
